The album’s 10 songs clock-in at just over 30 minutes in length and compose a snapshot of a band finding itself and delivering the perfect bite of what it has to offer. Overall, the record is clean, bright, and pretty, but with a sharpness of heartfelt soul and hard-edged rock lurking behind the all-original compositions. - Read the full review by Ryan Bunch of Toledo.com here.

"This debut full-length is a revelation of pop songcraft…Wilco-meets-Oasis." - Steve Ferra, Absolute Powerpop

"The songs on Nathan Roberts and The New Birds are solid, the sound is lush and the accompaniment is tasteful." - D.M. Jones, whatzup

Review: Nathan Roberts and the New Birds

Toledo’s Nathan Roberts has left behind his solo career and teamed up with Daniel and Joel Trzcinski to form Nathan Roberts & the New Birds. The band’s self-titled debut album is loaded with pop-Americana gems. Upon listening to the album for the first time, I immediately made the connection to Ryan Adams with a pinch of Top 40.

That’s not to say that every song is upbeat or fast paced, in fact some of the best ones may be the more subdued tracks. “Walk On” and “Until the End” are just two examples of slower, more Americana songs. These two songs in particular are filled to the brim with soul and heartfelt lyrics that are able to shine in thanks to the mellow tones.
